LCD displays have quickly replaced old fashioned CRT computer monitors as the industry standard. This is hardly surprising as their improved clarity and picture quality coupled with their smaller size makes them vastly superior to CRT monitors.

Many people who use their computer primarily for playing games or watching high definition films will want to invest in a high quality monitor for the best possible image resolution and viewing experience. Some people will buy a LCD TV and use that as their computer monitor. Since the cost of these items has lowered significantly over the past few years and cheap Samsung LCD TVs are available in most high street shops then this is a perfectly viable solution. You may be surprised to find just how many cheap Samsung LCD TVs end up being used exclusively as a computer monitor.

However, in an office environment where PCs will be used mainly for word processing and web browsing it makes no sense in invest in a high quality LCD monitor. So, most firms produce a range of low cost LCD monitors that are compact and reliable whilst keeping costs down. However, although these monitors are cheap and practical they are of little use to the home PC user who wants to play games and watch films that have high definition graphics. In that case a cheap Samsung LCD TV may be the best option.
